1. What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places. The tissue which is not in the right place of your body gets chronically inflamed and can cause a lot of pain. Especially during your period.

What causes endometriosis?

The real cause of endometriosis is unknown, although there are several theories. It is very likely that certain genes are responsible for the development of this illness. Endometriosis is probably caused by familial relationship, which means that women with a first-degree relative that is struggling with endometriosis are at greater risk of receiving endometriosis too. But that is not all, there are also other factors that play a huge part such as the age of the first menstruation, other gynecological factors and also environmental factors.

What are the symptoms?

The most common symptoms of endometriosis are period cramps (before, during and also after the period), chronincal stomach ache, intestine and bladder problems, fatigue, painful sexual intercourse and fertility problems.
