Endometriosis

“Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.”  NHS.uk

Endometriosis… What a name! I thought I was just struggling with a heavy period. Unfortunately not. To be honest, endometriosis kind of changed my life. It somehow controls my life, because it causes pain whenever it wants and I have absolutely no control of it.

I was having constant pelvic pain and period cramps (times 10) for over more than one year. Doctors didn’t know what to do because they simply didn’t understand where the pain was coming from. I was left in the dark. I knew something was completely wrong, but I started doubting myself. Am I making this pain up? Am I crazy? All these questions popped into my head when the doctors told me they couldn’t find any source of the pain. I felt powerless towards my own body and I got scared.

You go girl!

I dedicate a huge part of my blog to the endometriosis topic, because 1 in every 10 women is struggling with this horrible illness. Some of them don’t even know it and will think they’re just having heavy periods, like I thought. Therefore, I’d like to raise some awareness on the topic and tell you my personal experience, my challenges and also the positive things that came with it. You can read all about it in my blogs. Let’s share experiences and empower eachother!

Love, Andrea.
